This morning my Good Earth tea bag had a nice quote:
“All human actions have one or more of these seven causes: chance, nature, compulsion, habit, reason, passion, and desire.”
Aristotle (384 BC – 322 BC)
So, barefoot runners, which of those seven are the causes of your running?
And to any barefoot-curious women: Which of the seven causes might get you to jump in and try running barefoot?
Personally, mine are Chance, Habit and Desire. Maybe a little Passion – working on that one.

Likewise, I chanced upon barefoot running, because I just happened to be born without shoes. Though I did, and do still have shoes/footwear, I knew from an early age that shoes weren’t really for me, or my feet, certainly not most of the time.

Stubborness isn’t one of them?? Chance- I was having pain that was getting worse in shoes, so many of my online running friends were trying VFFs and loving them. Compulsion – I had nothing to lose so I wanted them baaaad. Reason – the more I read on it the more it made sense to me. I had to go all bare to say I was a barefoot runner.
